Consultation process
The strategic public health plan European Autism Action 2020 will be compiled from all the information received during an extensive consultation process and presented at the Autism2010 Conference. The objective of the consultation process is to achieve maximum participation by stakeholders across Europe. The collaboration of organisations is essential to the creation of a comprehensive and inclusive pan-European public health plan.
"Partnership is what brings about successful change. A diverse, inclusive partnership is being created by the European Autism Public Health Alliance. The public health strategy European Autism Action 2020 which will emerge from this alliance at the European Autism Action 2010 Conference is an ambitious endeavour but an essential one, and one that the Commission is glad to support."
Mr Nick Fahy, Head of Unit, DG-SANCO Unit C2
European Commission
Commencement of consultation process
The consultation process began with a Panel of Experts Meeting held in Luxembourg in March 2010, at which experts working in the field of ASD from countries across Europe were asked what they considered to be strengths and specific needs in terms of autism research, services, policy, advocacy and awareness, monitoring and surveillance both within their own countries and in Europe. Report from the Panel of Experts Meeting.
Sub-regional meetings
As part of the consultation process, two sub-regional meetings took place in September 2010; the East European meeting in Budapest on 13th and 14th and the West European meeting in Mallorca on 23rd and 24th.

Online consultation process
The online consultation process which was designed to ensure that the ten-year strategic public health plan 'European Autism Action 2020' has the input of as many stakeholders across Europe as possible closed on 17th October 2010.
We would like to thank all those who participated and our wonderful team of translators from all across Europe who have worked so hard to ensure that all persons in their countries would have their voice heard in this process.
